10 Best Movies You’ve Seen Lately

Boo, I haven’t seen that many movies lately. Let’s see if I can make it up to 10.

1. Up
Was a nice surprise.

2. Julie & Julia
Merryl Streep, you rock!

3. It’s Complicated
Merryl Streep, you rock!

4. Mano Po 6
Not exactly a “best”, but I haven’t seen a lot of movies lately and, among the ones I did see, this one probably is the best of them.

5. I Love You, Goodbye
Infinitely better than, say, Panday. Bong in breeches? Nah.

6. Cars
Yes, the animated movie. Re-discovered this movie recently when my daughter suddenly developed an obsession for it. I can’t blame her, the movie is great.

7. 2012
Portents? Armageddon-type movies always get me.

8. Revolutionary Road
Was able to see it in its entirety just recently. Beautiful portrayals.

9. Inglorious Basterds
OMG, that’s all I can say.

10. Milk
Sean Penn, you rock!

10 Things You’re Looking Forward to in 2010

Continuing from my previous posts, here’s a list of the things that I’m looking forward to this year.

1. More travelling
As in the pleasurable kind (and not the stressful one that many people have associated me with, haha!)

2. Baby #2
This year is going to be the year. Ovaries, please cooperate.

3. Re-visiting Florida
Something is in the works so I’ll be looking into downtown disney hotels pretty soon.

4. The Lifting of the Bag Embargo
Cross your fingers for me please!

5. Ninna in First Grade
My baby and the big school. Brings tears to my eyes!

6. A Pet
Please? Pretty please?

7. Visiting with relatives whom we haven’t seen in a while
Hopefully by mid-year. Yey!

8. The Big Move
We’re off to somewhere nice and stable soon. I’ll keep you posted. :)

9. Me in School
I’m obsolete as obsolete can be. I hope to rectify that soon. :)

10. New friends
See #8. :)

10 New Year’s Resolutions

Happy New Year! I’ve been neglecting to join my usual meme lists, mostly because I’ve been extra busy during the holidays. Which therefore takes us to resolution #1…

1. Blog More
2009 was a slump year for me in terms of blogging. I hope to be a better blogger this year.

2. Eat Healthier
I keep on saying this year after year, don’t I? Hehe! This year, I will eat better food. Promise.

3. Pray More
I have received a lot of blessings lately and I haven’t really reciprocated my thanks to Him accordingly. I know He knows (and He knows its okay), but I know I need more improvement in this area. :)

4. Exercise More
See #2. Haha!

5. Take better control of mood swings
The husband agrees. I wish there was some kind of reliable switch for this, sort of like window blinds that you can open and close at will. :)

6. Dress better
I don’t want to be a yaya any more. Haha!

7. Manage my time better.
Another year after year resolution that I suck at.

8. Reconnect with family and friends
A hermit, that’s what I’ve been these past few months. That’s going to change, promise.

9. De-stress
Hard to believe but 2009 was as stressful as can be. Must relax.

10. Be resolute
I will.

10 Things You Want But Wouldn’t Buy For Yourself

1. A Birkin
Obviously. I don’t think I could sacrifice a good marriage for a handbag, haha!

2. Skinny Jeans
I am so tempted to get a pair but my butt opposes – and makes a logical argument.

3. Stilettos
Used to love them but they’re not so practical for me right now. Sigh.

4. A Dual Sim E71 Knockoff (with TV) Cellphone from China
Its a very intriguing phone (I’ve seen it in action), and very cheap, too! But I don’t think I’d buy one for myself right now. Even though my E71 doesn’t have TV or doesn’t have touch-screen or doesn’t have a dual sim, at least its still the real thing. :P

5. MacBook
I love the way it looks and I love the hype. But I fear I am still a PC user at heart. Anyway, I don’t even know if I could use a Macbook to take medical coding training courses, or if they have the software for that. We’ll see.

6. A Mitsubishi Montero Sport
I’ve been bugging my dad to trade in his old Trooper for this (so that I can borrow it, hehe!)

7. A Crumpler Laptop Bag
Bag again huh? Hehe! Seriously, I think they’re cute. But as of now, my cheap Targus one still works for me.

8. A PS3
I like it but wouldn’t buy it for me. I just love the blu-ray part of it, hehe.

9. A Chow-chow
I don’t know how I could take care of a doggie right now but they sure are cute!

10. A Canon Mark II
See #1. Same reason. :)

10 Things You Wish You Knew How To Do

1. Fly An Airplane
This is one of the things in my life list that I really want to learn. I hope I get the chance, too.

2. Speak Italian or French
Right now, I know English, Tagalog, and a little bit of Japanese. I hope to learn a European language next time.

3. Fix a Car
At least just enough so that the mechanics at the car shop can’t put one over me.

4. Sew My Own Clothes
I had very low marks in Home Ec, hehe! My mom usually finishes up my sewing projects so I wont fail the subject! BUt I really want to learn this, at least just enough to be able to alter my own clothes.

5. Play Golf
To better challenge the husband.

6. Follow Technology
As it is, cell phones already give me a hard time, hehe!

7. Sing and Play the Piano like Norah Jones or Sarah McLachlan
And why not? Haha!

8. Bake Like a Pro
I have an excuse, I don’t have an oven. :D

9. Draw
Stick figures are my forte. And that’s about it. I am already dreading the day when my daughter would be asking me to help her with her art projects for school. I don’t really know if my “left-brain” excuse will work with her, especially since I’m not good at math either. :P

10. Advanced Math
Like Nuclear Physics, or Advanced Calculus, Algebraic Combinatorics, or something like that. Wala lang, I just think its cool. :D

10 Favorite Movie Remakes

1. Sabrina
I loved Julia Ormond in the remake. Harrison Ford is dashing, too.

2. Love Affair
The hubby-wifey team of Benning and Beatty was just perfect for me.

3. Charlie and The Chocolate Factory
Put Johnny Depp in any picture and it always turns out the better.

4. The End of The Affair
I became a certified fan of Ralph Fiennes beacuse of this movie.

5. Hairspray
Although I still love the first one as well.

6. Meet Joe Black
Not a lot of people know that this is a remake. It is. :)

7. Ocean’s Eleven
And this one, too.

8. Scent of a Woman
And this one, too. I’m a movie buff, sorry for the extra trivia, hehe.

9. The Talented Mr. Ripley
Matt Damon is extra freaky in this movie. Loved him here.

10. The Ring
I hate this movie, but I loved it, haha! Gave me nightmares for as long as I could remember. Just hearing the name Sadako (or Samara) makes me want to look up a term life insurance quote online, haha!

10 Ways To Waste Time On The Internet

Off the top of my head, I can already enumerate about ten games I play on Facebook that absolutely wastes time, hehe! But I’ll try to come up with nine other time-wasters. My hubby says I’m good at that, haha! :)

1. Facebook Games
Enough said.

2. YouTube-ing
It’s like a tube of Pringles: once you pop, you can’t stop.

3. Checking ALL of my Networking Sites
Which I hardly do nowadays. Most of my time is spent doing #1. So, sorry my friends on Friendster, Hi5, MySpace, Multiply, etc etc. Please get a Facebook Account instead. :)

4. Following Plurks
Or Twitters. Which I don’t do much of anymore, on account of #1.

5. Wikipedia-ing
What can I say? Wiki is much more fun than your old-school textbooks and encyclopedia.

6. Googling
For every keyword, Google gives you millions of matches. Your call.

7. The Food Network
Because it’s fun to salivate over food I can’t cook.

8. Browsing Through Handbag Sites
Because it’s fun to salivate over handbags I can’t afford.

9. Chatting On YM
Or, to be more precise, bothering people who don’t want to be bothered, haha!

10. Facebooking
I told you I waste a lot of time there, haha!

10 Guilty Pleasures

Why not? Let’s get these out in the open, shall we.

1. Krispy Kreme Original Glazed Donuts
I can actually eat a dozen of them if not restrained. :)

2. The Singing Bee
I am a sucker for Karaoke shows, haha!

3. Spa Pedicures
I can’t just get a regular pedicure, I have to have a spa one.

4. Handbags
I’m sure a lot of people will react if this does not make my list.

5. Comfy Shoes
They don’t have to be designer, they don’t have to look nice, but if they’re comfy and won’t give me corns (like Dansko shoes), I will wear them more than any other footwear.

6. Chocolates
In any shape or form.

7. Playing Facebook Games Very Late at Night
To the chagrin of my sleeping husband.

8. Solitude
I love my family and friends to death, of course. However, when I do get to have some time all to myself, I cherish it.

9. Chicklit and Romantic Comedy Movies
Shallow, I know, but I love them.

10. Sleeping In
I really really want to wake up early (and I have to, too) but the bed beckons…. :)

10 Things That Make You Feel Old

I have been feeling this a lot lately. Here’s my list.

1. Music
I used to be good at following new music. Now, though, I can’t even understand half of what they’re singing. Also, I’d rather listen to the “oldies” (i.e. 80-90s music).

2. Teenagers
Every time I pass by a group of them in the mall or somewhere, I don’t know why but the inner-”manang” in me automatically emerges. I can’t even remember me being like “them”, haha!

3. Getting Invited To Become A Godparent At A Wedding
Yes, not a baptism but a wedding! Yikes. I referred them to my parents hehehe.

4. My Daughter
No one can bring out the wrinkles better than she can.

5. My Parents
Seeing them grow older means I, too, am getting older. Plus, there’s a certain shift in “responsibility” – they need to be taken care of more, so that duty falls to us now.

6. Technology
I used to be pretty tech-savvy. Now, an Iphone to me is a challenge. So is Windows Vista. And the elevator of the last hotel we stayed in.

7. Planning For Retirement
This never really bothered me 10-15 years ago. Now, I’m open to the idea of investments and even a business plan consultant.

8. Fashion
It just changes too much, hehe! I find myself sticking more to the basics now.

9. Being Called Ma’am or Madam in Public Places
I used to be called, miss. Gahhh.

10. Having Another Birthday
Sometimes, I find myself asking about the logic of celebrating it. It’s so “in your face”, haha!

10 Things You Want But Can’t Afford

Making this list, I wish I had purchased a couple of lottery tickets earlier.

1. A Porsche Cayenne
Drooling here.

2. A 70-inch LCD TV
A Sony Bravia or a Samsung will do just nicely.

3. A Penthouse Condo in NYC
I’m setting my sights really high.

4. The Beatles Songbook
MJ beat me to the punch. But I heard it can be bought now…

5. A Hermes Birkin or Kelly
I have yet to own one. Perhaps in my next life.

6. A Year Long Trip Around The World
Ala Becky Bloomwood, including the souvenirs, hehe!

7. An Island In Dubai
Perhaps I’ll need to win more than one lottery to own one. :)

8. A closet full of Louboutins
Or Blahniks. Or Choos.

9. A Basketball Team
Or football. Or baseball.

10. A Good His and Hers Watch
If I couldn’t make all of the other wishes come true, perhaps this one may be attainable. I’ve always wanted hubby and I to have matching watches, hehe.
