Branson

My family and I drove to Utah a few months back and, as most people who know me know, I live for these kinds of outings. One of the places we went to was Bryce Canyon, and I have to tell you that it was amazing! Here’s an sample of the magnificence of the hoodoos.

I am hoping that our next long-drive would be somewhere we haven’t been before. I’ve been looking into some affordable Branson vacation packages and I am thinking what a great idea it would be. Missouri is located just north of Dallas (where we are), and its not that long of a drive. Apparently, there is a lot to do at the “Live Music Capital of the World”. They have museums, thrill and water rides, family entertainment centers, golf, shopping, and of course the great outdoors. Just thinking about this makes me so excited. I’ll be sure to tell you all about our Branson experience, soon! :)

Nagging

More Friday5!

1. What kinds of nagging injuries do you have?
:: Nothing really, so I’m very thankful for that.

2. What long-procrastinated task is nagging at you lately?
:: Updating my daughter’s milestone blog. She’s in first grade now but her blog sort of stopped at Pre-K. :)

3. In what way have you been a nag to someone else?
:: I think I’m sometimes overly pushy with my younger siblings. Being the eldest can sometimes do that to you. I nag them to find good jobs that they love, to get healthy but not to the point of being dependent on phentermine diet pills, as well as try to find true love (like I did, haha!).

4. Who in your life is a world-class nag?
:: My mom. But aren’t all moms naggers in a way? I know I am! :)

5. Nag is such an ugly word. What would be a nicer way to describe someone who exhibits nagging tendencies?
:: A very persistent person. :)

Fields

More Friday5!

1. What is the field nearest your home like?
:: Its a cornfield. Right now, a very dry cornfield.

2. How did you get into the professional field you’re in? If you’re not working, what field are you most likely to find yourself in some day?
:: Since I’m not working, I would love to be in the food industry someday. Or, maybe I would indulge my husband and put up a construction business. That way, he could use all the Schlage and hand drills that he wants. (While I count all the profits, hehe!)

3. What’s the most interesting sight within your current field of vision?
:: Lunch cooked by my husband.

4. Where were you the last time you fielded questions from several people in turn?
:: A few months ago, people were asking me what our long-term plans were and I had to do some evasive maneuvers because, although I wanted to assure everyone that we had great plans on our horizon, I didn’t really want to commit to anything to anyone yet. So there. :)

5. How are you feeling right now?
:: Bored.

Ink

More Friday5!

1. What are the coolest and ugliest tattoos you’ve ever seen?
:: I’m not much into tattoos but I do love tattoos that display a guy’s undying love for his wife, hehe! I also think that most tattoos done in prison are the least attractive of all.

2. Have you ever had a meal in which squid ink was an ingredient? How was it?
:: Yes! We have a local dish called adobong pusit, which is basically squid cooked in its own ink plus vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, and a bay leaf. Yum.

3. Are you one of those people who has a favorite pen, or one of those people who just uses whatever’s at hand? What’re your favorite pens like?
:: I’m basically one of those who uses whatever is at hand. But I do have a favorite type of pen, I love Parkers.

4. There’s a box of colored markers on the table, and someone tells everyone assembled to grab one. If you have first pick, what do you take?
:: Red. The redder the better. If the marker is as red as my favorite rain boots, I’m sold.

5. Have you ever written on a wall in a public place?
:: Nope, unless making murals count. :)

Lids

More Friday5!

1. What did the last hat you wore look like?
:: I’m not much into hats but I do have some baseball caps. The last one I wore was a white one.

2. What’s your strategy for unscrewing those stubborn jar-lids?
:: I call my very strong, very masculine husband, haha! If he’s not around, I just heat up the lid on the stove until it expands enough for me to turn it. It beats smearing a bit of juvederm all over it, which I think wouldn’t help, anyway.

3. How good are you at keeping a lid on it?
:: Very good. People usually trust me with their deepest, darkest secrets, haha!

4. Here in Hawaii, people are often very self-conscious about their eyelids. How do you feel about yours?
:: I feel good about my eyelids. Although I’m Asian (which is close to polynesian), I have respectable double lids, which are open to Bobbi Brown, Shu Uemura, and company. :)

5. Are you acquainted with anyone named Lydia?
:: I had a classmate in high school named Lydia. :)

Mint!

More Friday5!

1. How picky are you about toothpaste?
:: Not too picky. As long as it does the job, I’m ok.

2. What’s the best cooked dish you’ve had that included mint?
:: Chocolate Mint Cookies. I can eat dozens of them. Of course, that’s like an hour of abtronic workout but, its worth it.

3. How far would you have to go from where you are right now to get a breath mint?
:: Far. We don’t have one in the house right now. Also, we’re more of a chewing gum people. :)

4. Got any gum?
:: Definitely. I have one in my purse right now.

5. What’s something you keep in mint condition?
:: I don’t really know. My family and I, we love to use our stuff instead of just keeping things on display. We’re Velveteen Rabbit believers, I guess. :)

No Superstitions Here

More Friday5!

1. What’s something good that there are thirteen of?
:: Thirteen steps on the stairs. Old people say you will land on gold (or oro) on the thirteenth step.

2. Have you known any black cats?
:: We used to have a black pet cat. She had the most amazing green eyes.

3. Among people you know, who seems to have an uncanny knack for games of chance?
:: Actually, my daughter always wins at arcade games where you have to press something to land on a prize. I don’t really want to encourage it because she might take it further when she’s much older, haha! But its fun to see her win, wrapped in lots of good luck. :)

4. It seems to me that while people seem to have all kinds of tokens of good luck, such as lucky articles of clothing or lucky rituals or lucky figurines, nobody has a lucky food. What would make a really good good-luck food, and what would seem to be a bad-luck food?
:: In my culture, birthday noodles (or “pancit” as we call it) are always symbols of good luck and long life (the longer the noodles, the longer you’ll live). We never have a birthday without pancit, ever. As for bad-luck food, I can’t think of any except that maybe if you eat something spoiled you’re definitely going to get sick, hehe!

5. Not that any of us believes in luck, but what’s something that happened this week that seems to have been very lucky for you?
:: We had a fender-bender a few days earlier and, although most people might think that that’s not such a lucky thing to happen, I still consider ourselves very lucky. For one, nobody got hurt, it wasn’t a serious accident, also our car insurance was recently updated, and a good samaritan (who really went our of her way to do so) stopped to serve as witness for the police to explain that we we were actually the victims of the the other driver’s negligence, as opposed to the lies that the other driver was saying. Lady luck is always definitely on our side.
