Rain

rain

Before the recent deluge that flooded my world, I have always loved it when it rained. I loved the sound that the drops make when they hit the windows of the house or the car -  its so calming and so cleansing, too! But now, every time there’s even a hint of rain, I get stressed! :D Instead of the consistent pitter patter that used to relaxed me, I now find that every drop begins to sound like a receipt printer churning printout after printout of home and car repairs, haha!

10 Things You Wish You Knew How To Do

1. Fly An Airplane
This is one of the things in my life list that I really want to learn. I hope I get the chance, too.

2. Speak Italian or French
Right now, I know English, Tagalog, and a little bit of Japanese. I hope to learn a European language next time.

3. Fix a Car
At least just enough so that the mechanics at the car shop can’t put one over me.

4. Sew My Own Clothes
I had very low marks in Home Ec, hehe! My mom usually finishes up my sewing projects so I wont fail the subject! BUt I really want to learn this, at least just enough to be able to alter my own clothes.

5. Play Golf
To better challenge the husband.

6. Follow Technology
As it is, cell phones already give me a hard time, hehe!

7. Sing and Play the Piano like Norah Jones or Sarah McLachlan
And why not? Haha!

8. Bake Like a Pro
I have an excuse, I don’t have an oven. :D

9. Draw
Stick figures are my forte. And that’s about it. I am already dreading the day when my daughter would be asking me to help her with her art projects for school. I don’t really know if my “left-brain” excuse will work with her, especially since I’m not good at math either. :P

10. Advanced Math
Like Nuclear Physics, or Advanced Calculus, Algebraic Combinatorics, or something like that. Wala lang, I just think its cool. :D

Birthday Ala Mardi Gras

mombday

All my mom needs now is a sexy pair of sparkly bikinis and she’s all set for the Mardi Gras carnivale! :D

Just kidding mommy!

Actually, this was taken during the birthday dinner we treated her to at Gumbo – a New Orleans-inspired restaurant off at Robinsons Place in Manila. The staff were so attentive that, without us telling them directly that it was my mom’s birthday, they somehow deduced that fact and then surprised mommy with a rousing medley of birthday jingles – to the extreme delight of my mom, of course! She even gamely donned the feathery head dress that they prepared for her. :D

This blog post was very delayed in coming but, even so, (belated) happy birthday Mommy! You don’t look a day over eighteen! Look at you, blooming na blooming, and you dont even need wrinkle creams! Hehe!

On your birthday and always, may all your days continue to be all merry and feathery. *muah*

Thank you for viewing our weekend snapshots Gumbo, Robinson’s Place Ermita, Manila

Books

books

This is one of my favorite books of all time. I love the uniqueness of the author’s idea – of using postcards and letters to tell the love story that developed between Griffin and Sabine. For all the traveling the love letters did in this story, I would think that they must have looked into travel insurance quotes first before making the journey, haha! So, imagine how happy I was to find an autographed copy of this book in the local booksale! Mr. Bantock may not have directly signed this for me but, I don’t really mind. I’m still happy. :)

10 Favorite Movie Remakes

1. Sabrina
I loved Julia Ormond in the remake. Harrison Ford is dashing, too.

2. Love Affair
The hubby-wifey team of Benning and Beatty was just perfect for me.

3. Charlie and The Chocolate Factory
Put Johnny Depp in any picture and it always turns out the better.

4. The End of The Affair
I became a certified fan of Ralph Fiennes beacuse of this movie.

5. Hairspray
Although I still love the first one as well.

6. Meet Joe Black
Not a lot of people know that this is a remake. It is. :)

7. Ocean’s Eleven
And this one, too.

8. Scent of a Woman
And this one, too. I’m a movie buff, sorry for the extra trivia, hehe.

9. The Talented Mr. Ripley
Matt Damon is extra freaky in this movie. Loved him here.

10. The Ring
I hate this movie, but I loved it, haha! Gave me nightmares for as long as I could remember. Just hearing the name Sadako (or Samara) makes me want to look up a term life insurance quote online, haha!

Derm Talk

acnegiraffes

Giraffe 1: I really need to see my dermatologist right away.
Giraffe 2: Why? What’s wrong. Do you need an acne treatment or something?
Giraffe 1: No, not really.
Giraffe 2: A diamond peel?
Giraffe 1: I don’t think so.
Giraffe 2: Then what is it?
Giraffe 1: Actually, I don’t really know. I just have these orange blotches on my skin I just find them so… unsightly.
Giraffe 2: Orange spots?
Giraffe 1: Yes.
Giraffe 2: Dear, you are a giraffe. Be thankful you don’t have black spots like a leopard.
Giraffe 1: Oh. You know, you’re right. Poor Leo.

Merry Go Round

lowrycarousel

My daughter loves the carousel. Whenever we see one anywhere, she has to ride on it. This particular one was taken at the Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa, and she was on an elephant. As you can see, she’s not pretty happy about it. Why? Because she prefers horses. Does this mean I should start saving up for equestrian apparel? I don’t mind. If she’s passionate about it, then I’ll gladly support her. In the meantime, we’ll be merry to stick with our merry go rounds.

10 Ways To Waste Time On The Internet

Off the top of my head, I can already enumerate about ten games I play on Facebook that absolutely wastes time, hehe! But I’ll try to come up with nine other time-wasters. My hubby says I’m good at that, haha! :)

1. Facebook Games
Enough said.

2. YouTube-ing
It’s like a tube of Pringles: once you pop, you can’t stop.

3. Checking ALL of my Networking Sites
Which I hardly do nowadays. Most of my time is spent doing #1. So, sorry my friends on Friendster, Hi5, MySpace, Multiply, etc etc. Please get a Facebook Account instead. :)

4. Following Plurks
Or Twitters. Which I don’t do much of anymore, on account of #1.

5. Wikipedia-ing
What can I say? Wiki is much more fun than your old-school textbooks and encyclopedia.

6. Googling
For every keyword, Google gives you millions of matches. Your call.

7. The Food Network
Because it’s fun to salivate over food I can’t cook.

8. Browsing Through Handbag Sites
Because it’s fun to salivate over handbags I can’t afford.

9. Chatting On YM
Or, to be more precise, bothering people who don’t want to be bothered, haha!

10. Facebooking
I told you I waste a lot of time there, haha!
