Edible

edible

If you should ask my daughter what her favorite food is, she’ll tell you in a heartbeat: ice cream!

Ice cream is as important to her as rubber boats are during a flood, or as nirvana is to buddhists, or as software development is to Microsoft. She even eats ice cream with her rice sometimes, especially if she doesn’t like the dish that comes with it. It’s her very own spoonful of sugar – it makes anything edible.

Water

dbtubig

Literally, hehe!

Nowadays, I don’t leave home without one. But instead of buying bottled water, I take along a water bottle and simply refill it as I go. Not only does it keep me and my little one hydrated, we also try to help the environment in our own way. Until they can find more uses for recyclable plastic, such a as use them in bulk for building manufactured homes, I think we’ll be very contented with our convenient H20 carrier. :)

10 Guilty Pleasures

Why not? Let’s get these out in the open, shall we.

1. Krispy Kreme Original Glazed Donuts
I can actually eat a dozen of them if not restrained. :)

2. The Singing Bee
I am a sucker for Karaoke shows, haha!

3. Spa Pedicures
I can’t just get a regular pedicure, I have to have a spa one.

4. Handbags
I’m sure a lot of people will react if this does not make my list.

5. Comfy Shoes
They don’t have to be designer, they don’t have to look nice, but if they’re comfy and won’t give me corns (like Dansko shoes), I will wear them more than any other footwear.

6. Chocolates
In any shape or form.

7. Playing Facebook Games Very Late at Night
To the chagrin of my sleeping husband.

8. Solitude
I love my family and friends to death, of course. However, when I do get to have some time all to myself, I cherish it.

9. Chicklit and Romantic Comedy Movies
Shallow, I know, but I love them.

10. Sleeping In
I really really want to wake up early (and I have to, too) but the bed beckons…. :)

Proud Even In Captivity

eagle1

These are a couple of bald eagles we saw at the zoo a few weeks back. Their species were almost brought to extinction by illegal forestry activities in North America in the past decades. As the symbol of American freedom, its a good thing that scientists have been able to breed them in captivity or, as in the case of this proud pair, are able to adopt injured birds who can no longer fly. That’s what you call effective business continuity services.

10 Things That Make You Feel Old

I have been feeling this a lot lately. Here’s my list.

1. Music
I used to be good at following new music. Now, though, I can’t even understand half of what they’re singing. Also, I’d rather listen to the “oldies” (i.e. 80-90s music).

2. Teenagers
Every time I pass by a group of them in the mall or somewhere, I don’t know why but the inner-”manang” in me automatically emerges. I can’t even remember me being like “them”, haha!

3. Getting Invited To Become A Godparent At A Wedding
Yes, not a baptism but a wedding! Yikes. I referred them to my parents hehehe.

4. My Daughter
No one can bring out the wrinkles better than she can.

5. My Parents
Seeing them grow older means I, too, am getting older. Plus, there’s a certain shift in “responsibility” – they need to be taken care of more, so that duty falls to us now.

6. Technology
I used to be pretty tech-savvy. Now, an Iphone to me is a challenge. So is Windows Vista. And the elevator of the last hotel we stayed in.

7. Planning For Retirement
This never really bothered me 10-15 years ago. Now, I’m open to the idea of investments and even a business plan consultant.

8. Fashion
It just changes too much, hehe! I find myself sticking more to the basics now.

9. Being Called Ma’am or Madam in Public Places
I used to be called, miss. Gahhh.

10. Having Another Birthday
Sometimes, I find myself asking about the logic of celebrating it. It’s so “in your face”, haha!

When “I’m Sorry” Isn’t Enough…

Then I say: let her best friends do the talking. :)

In gist, this is what the guys at Bella True are talking about – there’s always a fine piece of jewelry for every offense, whether it be major or minor. Part of their recommendations include:

I goofed.
This 14k heart-shaped yellow gold pendant for simple, everyday, infractions. I wouldn’t mind a nice pair of earrings every time he forgets to do something I ask him to, hehe.

I'm Out In The Cold
Or this Genuine Topaz and Diamond earrings in white gold to infuse seriousness and sincerity on those difficult apologies.

Personally, I think men (particularly mine) want to apologize for their goof-ups and, at times, would really like to do (or give) something extra to show how much they really care. Unfortunately, some guys are really clueless when it comes to choosing the perfect “peace-offering” at any given time. The Tips For Guys at the Bella True website is a great guide. Just remember to leave the browser open tonight when he comes home late from another drinking session with his buddies.

As for me, I’m already stopping myself from hatching a plan to pick a fight with my husband. :)

Missing The Fall

missing

If there is one thing I am missing right now, its seeing the trees change colors for the season. By this time, I’m sure, my friends back in Atlanta are already feeling a slight chill in the mornings and early evenings. Wouldn’t these colors look nice as a theme for weddings? The reds, browns, and yellows would really look nice on wedding invitations, and the bride and groom would walk down an aisle of red leaves. I can just see it! :) I love the fall, its so inspiring!

Acrobatic

Ali —

– Oop!

I’m republishing this photo for the week’s theme, which is acrobatic. Nobody can make me do this, even if they say that its a better exercise or more effective than any weight loss diet pill for me to lose weight.

Taken at the Mallory Square in Key West, this super athletic street performer does impossible somersaults, stunts, and leaps, all without the benefit of protective gear. One mistake, hello cement floor.

10 Things You Want But Can’t Afford

Making this list, I wish I had purchased a couple of lottery tickets earlier.

1. A Porsche Cayenne
Drooling here.

2. A 70-inch LCD TV
A Sony Bravia or a Samsung will do just nicely.

3. A Penthouse Condo in NYC
I’m setting my sights really high.

4. The Beatles Songbook
MJ beat me to the punch. But I heard it can be bought now…

5. A Hermes Birkin or Kelly
I have yet to own one. Perhaps in my next life.

6. A Year Long Trip Around The World
Ala Becky Bloomwood, including the souvenirs, hehe!

7. An Island In Dubai
Perhaps I’ll need to win more than one lottery to own one. :)

8. A closet full of Louboutins
Or Blahniks. Or Choos.

9. A Basketball Team
Or football. Or baseball.

10. A Good His and Hers Watch
If I couldn’t make all of the other wishes come true, perhaps this one may be attainable. I’ve always wanted hubby and I to have matching watches, hehe.

10 Things You Need To Plan For

This is so timely. My husband and I have just had this kind of discussion.

1. Our Daughter’s Education
I think this is pretty self explanatory.

2. Retirement
Because we are not about to burden our children with dependent old folks, hehe.

3. The Afterlife
Which is why we try to be good Christians in this life.

4. Natural Calamities
Having recently experienced one and really caught off-guard, next time, we definitely know better.

5. Our Second Child
We have been planning this for a while but it never pushes through because of one thing or another. Logistically, we know we’re prepared but, honestly, I still can’t understand what’s keeping us from finally doing this. Maybe we should stop planning for it and just take the plunge? Haha!

6. Christmas
I don’t know about you but where we are, Christmas is a big deal. I can just imagine how long my list is going to be, hehe.

7. Health
Perhaps a good colon cleanser will do? Haha!

8. A Comfortable Life for our Ageing Parents
They’ve spent their lives making our lives easier. I guess, now its our responsibility to make their twilight years as comfortable as they deserve it to be.

9. A Nice Long Vacation
We came back to Manila hoping for a relaxing vacation but ended up getting double doses of stress, hehe! Perhaps a nice one on the beach will do.

10. Our Big Move
Wherever that may be. :) We’re still eyeing that one place where we can dig our roots into.
