Ideal Marriage That Inspires

Wifespeaks: Memoir Monday

lorikeets

Have you seen the movie Love Affair (starring Warren Beatty and Annette Bening)? Well, I have. And millions of times, hehe.

There’s one particular scene in the movie that I especially love – the one where Mike Gambril’s aunt (played by Katharine Hepburn) was telling Terry McKay about Mike being a duck. In this scene, Aunt Ginny explains how  certain birds (like the duck) can be very promiscous, as opposed to  some other birds that loves only one mate for the whole of its lifetime.

At one point in our lives, we must have thought ourselves a duck (but maybe not as promiscous, hehe!). But then, perhaps like Mike, we have all been looking for that one swan, lorikeet, or penguin – crippled or not – that we can love forever and ever.

Simula Pa Lamang at Mga Tulay

Litratong Pinoy

Dahil hindi na naman ako nakalahok nung isang linggo, dalawang tema na naman ang ilalathala ko ngayon. In the spirit of our pambansang kamao – pakyawan na naman. :)

tulay5-nyc
Tulay ng Brooklyn sa New York City.

tulay3
Tatlong henerasyon sa lakarang tulay sa Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

tulay7-sf
Ang tulay ng Golden Gate sa San Francisco, California.

tulay6
Isang nakalululang tulay sa Rock City sa Chattanooga, Tennessee.

tulay9-savannah
Ang tulay ng Talmadge sa Savannah, Georgia.

tulay9-charleston
Ang tulay ng Ravenel sa Charleston, South Carolina.

tulay10-key-west
Ang tulay ng Marathon sa Key West, Florida.

tulay11-tampa

10 Words That Describe You

The Ten on Tuesdays topic for last week is actually 10 Words That People Use to Describe You. Over the years, I’ve been described using various adjectives – some good and some not good, hehe! But, at least I’m thankful that people know me enough to be able to describe me, instead of saying: “Meeya who?” :D

1. Chubby
:: This one is a recurring description, and something I absolutely concur with. After 5th grade, skinny flew out of my description vocabulary.

2. Petite
:: In a family of giants, I’m the freak. :)

3. Morena
:: Never got the fair skin gene from my mom, that’s why.

4. Nerd
:: I can’t say I can’t agree with this because, sometimes, I can get pretty obsessed about learning new things. I’m not nerdy in the “genius” sense, though. I’m just a regular girl who’d rather read than play sports, hehe.

5. Motherly
:: Thus, Mama Meeya. I used to be quite the antithesis so I guess this one kicked in once I became a mom. Or they just haven’t seen the dark side of me yet, hehe!

6. Tactless
:: This I whole-heartedly agree with. Which is why I love writing, because I can edit out my not-so-endearing words before I publish them. Otherwise, I have this knack of saying the wrong things at the wrong time, hehe!

7. Fashionista
:: Not at all. I love handbags but that’s just about the extent of my fashion sense. In fact, I’m probably the last person to ask regarding the latest runway or seasonal trends. I’m just a t-shirt and flipflops girl. :P

8. Prolific
:: As a writer, perhaps, yes. I love writing. :) And how I love being able to insert stuff like how online companies like merchantacceptance.com offers superior credit card processing services and how it can increase sales for one’s business, into my blog entries, hehe!

9. Happy
:: Yep, I’m the girl who’s very satisfied with the way the world orbits around the sun. :)

10. Married
:: And this is mostly why I’m #9. :)

Agree or disagree? Spin-A-Win! :D

Snagged [10s]

I swiped this one off from Em. :)

TEN PREFERENCES IN A RELATIONSHIP
1. Smile or eyes?
:: Eyes, you can tell how sincere and how trustworthy a person is by seeing deep into their eyes.

2. Light or dark hair?
:: Dark hair. Especially dark, Asian hair, hehe!

3. Hugs or kisses?
:: Actually, I am more of a Hug person. But I never turn down a good liplock hehe!

4. Intelligence or attraction?
:: Intelligence. A great mind is very attractive to me. I want a guy who knows how to think for himself. Not someone who has to depend on daily Horoscopes or something. :)

5. Hook-up or relationship?
:: Relationship! I have always preferred my encounters to have meaning. Besides, I’m not very good with random hook-ups, most people whom I’ve met who have (or are) engaged in it seemed… pretty shallow.

6. Trust or love?
:: Love. Although trust is also very important to me, as I have a particular aversion to cheating, based on experience. However, you can’t love without trust, but you can trust without love. :)

7. Long distance or close?
:: Close. Hubby and I have tried long-distance and it doesn’t work – we just end up miserably missing each other. (Naks!) :D

8. Call or text?
:: Call. Texting is cute if you’re, like, below 21. :D

9. Older or younger?
:: Older. I like being babied. :)

10. Looks or Personality?
:: Personality. Looks fade while a great personality grows on you. :)

TEN LAST
1. Last phone call you made?
:: Hubby in Florida.

2. Last phone call you received?
:: Hubby from the airport.

3. Last person/people you hung out with?
:: Ninna, my daughter.

4. Last person to text you?
:: A friend asking for Tips for a Job Interview.

5. Last person you tickled?
:: Baby Alyanna, my goddaughter.

6. Last person you IM?
:: My sister.

7. Last person you hugged?
:: Ninna, when I dropped her off at school this morning.

8. Last person you slept with?
:: Husband!

9. Last person you laughed with?
:: The maintenance guy who fixed our door (that fell off its hinge!) and he was really amused at how we managed to wreck the poor door, hehe!

10. Last dream you can remember?
:: Honestly, I’ve been so tired this weekend that I’ve drifted off into dreamless sleeps these past nights. Sorry! :D

First Communion

Our weekend was pretty holy as we were invited to witness the First Holy Communion of three beautiful girls. The “firsts” in any child’s life is always worth remembering, especially something as sacred as this. I found myself holding hands with my own daughter, knowing that in a few years’ time, it will be her turn to receive the holy Eucharist.

firstcommunion
The three pretty communicants: Danielle, Daphne, and Alyssa. Pictures were not allowed during the ceremony itself so we were only able to take pictures afterwards.

I remember my own first communion way back in…. I’d rather not say (haha!). We were not made to wear a white dress (like the girls above) and instead received communion wearing our white and blue school uniform but with a white veil atop our heads. I am also proud to say that I have a picture of that hanging in a frame at our family’s house back home. Our family is very Catholic so, it figures. :)

After the ceremony, our huge group trooped to Lime Juice Thai Bistro, where we had lunch reservations. Our party took up most of the space, although I didn’t think the establishment minded so much. :) By this time, my camera’s battery conked out (if I could only take a superior life insurance policy on my camera, I’d be plenty rich by now!) so I wasn’t able to take pictures of the food. But I have to say, though, that the food was yummy!

All in all, we had a really blessed weekend to have been able to witness this milestone in the little girls’ life, as well as to spend the day with our friends (and eating good food, to boot!).

Congratulations, girls! And welcome to God’s own feast. You’re no longer partying at the kids’ table anymore. :)
