Sports For Spring

Spring is just around the corner and that means we can all go out and kick some balls! Well, sports balls I mean. :)

So, what do you need? Basketball, baseball, volleyball, football? Well, in my case, I might be needing some soccer equipment because my daughter has been bugging me forever to sign her up for soccer lessons this spring! The good thing is, I know exactly where to start looking for cleats and shinguards.

Learning about ShopWiki is probably one of the best things that happened to my online shopping life. It’s a community-based shopping resource that you all should try. It generates all of the possible websites where you can buy what you want online – and not just the sellers that have paid for placement. You can refine your search by price range, brand, and sites, and you can also create wikis for any product, find alternatives for what you want to buy, view and share product overviews and price checks, as well as tell you where to shop.

So I’m on my way to mold my little Beckham. Courtesy of ShopWiki.Com, maybe I should get a few cheerleading outfits, and pompoms, and a couple of megaphones as well, hehe! :D

Weekly Deals

A few days ago, I just bought a 500GB external hard drive at one of those national electronics stores so that I can have a place to transfer all of my family’s collection of photos and videos. That purchase cost me $119.99 – a really great deal, I thought, at that time.

I wish I had the presence of mind to check out Buy.Com’s weekly deals first, though. I took a peek now and, to my utter dismay, discovered that they had a 640GB Western Digital Elements External Hard Drive on sale for only $79.99! Yikes! With this Buy.Com weekly deal, I could have had a pre-formatted, reliable, high capacity storage for thirty dollars less and 140GB more! Best of all, shipping is free! I can safely say that never have I regretted an impulse buy so much. Ouch!

Anyway, I showed this deal to my husband and I think he’s thinking about getting it for himself. After all, we seem to be a family who never runs out of the need for extra data storage. :)  And now that we’ve started browsing through Buy.Com, we can’t seem to stop! Well, aside from the extra storage, we are also tempted to get the 10.2MP Samsung Digital Camera (a steal, really, at $69.99!), and the Nokia Bluetooth Headset, too.

So don’t make the same mistake that I made, check out Buy.Com first. :)

Tagged [First Letter of Your Name]

I haven’t been getting any tags lately via blogs lately, but I have been getting tagged over at Facebook. Like this one, for example, which Mel and May sent my way. :)

Rules: It’s harder than it looks! Copy to your own note, erase my answers, enter yours, and tag 25 people . Use the first letter of your name to answer each of the following questions. They have to be real… nothing made up! If the person before you had the same first initial, you must use different answers. You cannot use any word twice and you can’t use your name for the boy/girl name question.

Have Fun!!!

At the rate I’m going, weight loss pills are probably going to be my only hope. :)

Thanks for this, girls! :)

Tagged [25 Random Things About Me a la FB]

I was tagged with this over at Facebook but, as always, I’d rather answer them here. :) Thanks to Jmom, Cez, and Laine for this! :)

Rules: Once you’ve been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you.

I’ve done a lot of random enumerations about me over the years. This time, I’m going to challenge myself and do 25 Random things about Me after I turned 25 years old. :)

1. I was single on my 25th birthday.

2. I have been out of the labor force since 2004. But, I’ve had a gainful career as a sahmmy ever since.

3. I didn’t know how to cook, not even to save myself, when I was 25. Not so now! :)

4. I now prefer quality over quantity when it comes to “handbag collecting”. Although, to have both would be mucho fine as well. :D

5. I do not eat bananas.

6. I’ve lived overseas since 2004, with no signs of quitting.

7. I was devastated when the Eraserheads broke up.

8. I traveled to NYC for the very first time when I was 26.

9. I’ve had a miscarriage when I was 28.

10. I do not like Marian Rivera. And Anne Curtis. And Bea Alonzo.

11. I make a mean sans rival. Hah! :D

12. I currently share a DSLR with my husband. Soon, it will be all mine (mwahaha, mwahaha, mwahaha).

13. I love eating out, or eating at other people’s houses. Less dishes for me to wash, I guess, hehe!

14. I can’t do art and math, but ask me to write or dance any day and I would oblige.

15. I am very bad at remembering names, but I am good with faces.

16. I love cuddling up to my asawa. *kilig*

17. I’m very mababaw – I can easily cry and am easy to please.

18. Meteor Garden is my ultimate favorite Chinese telenovela. :)

19. I’ve been to more places than all the trips prior to my being 25 combined. Having some great travel buddies in the form of my hubby and Ninna, and coming across great travel deals contributed to that big time. :)

20. I still do not eat beef.

21. I have yet to find something at Abercrombie and Fitch that fits me.

22. I have a great respect for single parents. Especially those who have raised their kids right.

23. Michael V cracks me up.

24. I wear Crocs at home, but not outside the house.

25. I have this habit of putting “haha!” or “hehe!” after my sentences. It can be annoying, I know, especially if nothing’s funny. :P

Anybody who wants to take a shot at this, please be my guest. :)

10 Songs That Describe You or Your Life

This one’s pretty hard. I am tempted to write “Pretty Woman” ten times. :D

As the title implies, these are the 10 songs that I think best describes me.

1. At Last (Etta Jones). At last my love has come along, my lonely days are over, and life is like a song.

2. True Colors (Cyndi Lauper). If this world makes you crazy and you’ve taken all you can bear, you just call me up because you know I’ll be there.

3. Bitch (Meredith Brooks). I’m a bitch, I’m a lover, I’m a child, I’m a mother, I’m a sinner, I’m a saint, I do not feel ashamed, I’m your hell, I’m your dream, I’m nothing in between, You know you wouldn’t want it any other way.

4. I’ll Be (Edwin McCain). I’ll be your crying shoulder, I’ll be love’s suicide, I’ll be better when I’m older, I’ll be the greatest fan of your life.

5. I’m Yours (Jason Mraz). I’ve been spending way too long checking my tongue in the mirror and bending over backwards just to try to see it clearer, but my breath fogged up the glass and so I drew a new face and I laughed. I guess what I’ll be saying is there ain’t no better reason, to rid yourself of vanity and just go with the seasons. It’s what we aim to do, our name is our virtue. But I won’t hesitate no more, no more it cannot wait. I’m sure there’s no need to complicate. Our time is short, this is our fate, I’m yours.

6. Anyway (Martina McBride). God is great, but sometimes life ain’t good. And when I pray it doesn’t always turn out like I think it should. But I do it anyway … I do it anyway

7. So Far Away (Carole King). Traveling around sure gets me down and lonely. Nothing else to do but close my mind. I sure hope the road don’t come to own me, There are so many dreams I have yet to find.

8. Hands (Jewel). If I could tell the world just one thing it would be that we’re all OK. And not to worry ’cause worry is wasteful and useless in times like these. I won’t be made useless, I won’t be idle with despair, I will gather myself around my faith for light does the darkness most fear.

9. In My Daughter’s Eyes (Martina McBride). In my daughter’s eyes I am a hero. I am strong and wise and I know no fear. But the truth is plain to see, she was sent to rescue me. I see who I want to be in my daughter’s eyes.

10. Mamma Mia (ABBA). Just because that’s my name, hehehe!

This was quite tough! I love music and I know I have a lot of great songs running around my head, if only it were possible to buy memory, just a few extra ones so I could easily recall all of them in a snap.

Anyway, I had fun. :) How about you? What 10 songs would best describe yourself and/or your life? :)

LP45: Puso

Litratong Pinoy

Ako ay may isang paboritong craft gadget. And tawag dito ay: heart puncher.

Parang masakit ano? Pansuntok ng puso? Parang boypren na manloloko, hehe.

heartpunch

10 Favorite Places To Shop

This will be my third Ten on Tuesday list. I am definitely on a roll! :)

As the title implies, these are my 10 favorite places to shop.

1. Target. Bullseye for this store – I love it. It’s not as crowded as other super stores (at least where I come from), and although the merchandise could be a little cheaper, the quality of the stuff that they sell is great. And don’t get me started about their sale events…

2. Walmart. This is my second-best favorite store to shop, mostly because they seem to have everything.

3. Rustan’s. When I was still in the Philippines, this was my favorite department store. It’s as close to Neiman Marcus that you can get over there (at least I think so).

4. Costco. Free samples – that’s the key word, haha!

5. Shopwise. Another local favorite of mine. Akin to Walmart, you can get almost everything here, too. Even Votive candle holders.

6. Neiman Marcus. For all my high-end needs, yes, yes.

7. Greenhills Shopping Center. The people who shop here definitely knows what I’m talking about. It’s got bazaars, tech shops, boutiques, theaters, you name it, you can get it here – and I mean anything. If you ever get to visit the Philippines, don’t miss the chance to shop here. :)

8. Divisoria. Once you get past the throng of people, the “ambiance”, and the imminent threat of pickpockets, this is the place to get the best bargains. Not for the faint of heart, though.

9. TJ Maxx. My balikbayan goodies usually come from here. Anyway, my people back home don’t care very much for in-season stuff, so out-of season branded stuff are still very much appreciated.

10. Online. Sitting in my jammies, searching for stuff with my warm mug of coffee on the side, then dancing the jig as I find a really great deal (free shipping comes with a booty shake)… priceless!

How about you? Where do you love to shop?

10 Favorite Children’s Movies

With my daughter still young enough for most animated movies today, this list is actually all mine. :) Truth to tell, I love children’s movies – they’re light and fun, and they usually have great soundtracks.

1. Annie. With the advent of Betamax, this movie was one of the few that my dad purchased for me and my siblings. I guess you can say that this opened in me a love for musicals – both for film and theater. I can still sing the songs from the movie by heart. :)

2. Shrek. It took me aback because this movie (finally) gave animation a sense of humor.

3. Finding Nemo. What can I say, Dory (and the bahay kubo inside the aquarium) is the best!

4. The Princess Bride. I don’t know if this could be considered as a children’s movie, but it was one of those movies that made me swoon when I was a kid.

5. The Neverending Story. Does anybody even remember this movie? Well, I do! :D

6. Cars. Life is a highway and I would ride it all night long, hehe! What makes this movie even more memorable for me, I guess, is it’s the first full-length animated feature film that my daughter sat through and loved. :)

7. Bambi. Made me cry (well, scared to death too) as a child, and still made the mommy-side of me cry as an adult now.

8. The Aristocats. Everybody wants be a cat? Yes, unless you get fed with Creme dela Creme ala Edgar, haha! I loved this movie! :)

9. The Land Before Time. Cute movie and cute characters. If only the dinosaurs did find a place where they flourished. But then again, we humans might not be here if they did live, hehe!

10. Beauty and The Beast. I’m not much into Disney princess movies but for Belle, I make an exception. I love the songs in this movie. I sometimes sing them all out when I’m alone in the house, hehehe!

There’s still a lot more that didn’t make it to my list – after all, I have thirty-plus years of children’s movies crammed into my head. As an adult, I don’t think I’ll ever stop watching these kinds of movies. Aside from the fact that these sure beat reading Dallas resumes as a pastime, it also helps our hearts stay young. :)

How about you? What are your favorite children’s movies?
