LP43: Lila

Litratong Pinoy

palasyo

Ito ay kuha mula sa huli naming pagbisita sa enkantadong mundo ni mickey mouse. Dito (daw) nakatira si Cinderella. Pero bakit lila, di ba dapat asul? Para terno ng gown niya? :)

WS29: Surprise Party

The surprise party actually happened about two weeks ago, but its only now that I am able to finally share some snapshots from it.

We put together this pretty hush-hush despedida (or going-away party) for our friends (my closest neighbors, actually), John, Sheng, and their kids Zoe and Josh. Everyone, of course, were very sad to see them leave but we know that greater opportunities are available to them elsewhere and that they had no choice but to follow their hearts (naks!).

Anyway, we held the party at our friend’s house (since it was the only one big enough to accommodate us all, haha!) and I have to say, judging from our very very surprised guests of honor, we were very triumphant. :)

We had all sorts of food prepared (hoping that they’ll be so full that they’d forget about leaving, haha!).

People brought sisig, palabok, lo mein, fried chicken, baked salmon, fried rice, pepper shrimps, grilled ribs, baked macaroni, and various desserts such as sapin-sapin, cheesecakes, bibingka, and a gelatin cake. My contribution was Arroz Valenciana and Leche Flan. :)

Drinks were on the house!

Cheers ladies! (And please remind me never to wear horizontal stripes again!)

While the dads played…

And the moms toasted some more, hehe!

It was actually a fun day (with a trip to the outlet stores, not 10 minutes away, squeezed in), albeit a poignant one. We will miss our friends dearly but, we know that the world is but a small place and we’re bound to be with them again very soon. :)

Thanks for viewing a snapshot of our surprise despedida party for our dear friends.

Iconic

I have published this picture before as my entry for another photomeme. However, I couldn’t think of any other photo that would best represent this week’s Photo Friday theme than, of course, this very iconic brand.

I have always been a fan of Louis Vuitton, especially when it was still out of my financial reach, hehe! I worked my hiny out just to acquire even one handbag. I didn’t even need something like Fentraphen to help me slim down – I saved on my meals just to save up for my bag. :) Nowadays, I already see LV fans blossoming what with the current designer-handbag frenzy. I guess, if I had at least $800 lying around and am dying for a designer purse, my sights would definitely be set on nothing else but the icon. :)

LP42: Ang Paghahabol :)

Litratong Pinoy

PULA

stop

Green means go and red means…?

10 Things I Want To Do In 2009

Happy New Year!

Instead of the usual New Year’s Resolutions (that I know I will not be able to do, again), I’m happily creating this “to do” checklist. I hope it not only helps to improve some things that need improving on the personal front, but will allow me to actually get some things done this coming year.

Wish me luck!

1. Update All of My Blogs. 2008 had been an “overwhelming” year for my creative muse. Once I got my own hosting service, there was no turning back. I started to migrate and consolidate my blogs everywhere, added some new ones, as well as forayed into the sponsored posts business. However, it got to a point where I began to unintentionally sacrifice content and actually felt the beginnings of a blogging burn-out. But no, I know that all it takes is a bit of streamlining and time management. I’m going to keep at it this year until I get it all done. Promise!

2. Relaunch WifeSpeaks. WifeSpeaks is a great blog (if I do say so myself) that I share with a group of wonderful women. The basic premise of this blog is to become a special online resource for women to share experiences about wifehood and everything else that goes with it. Unfortunately, the site has been in hibernation for a while due to some changes that we wanted to do on the site. Hopefully, we could get to re-launch it with new and exciting stuff for our readers, with a new look, and on a new platform.

3. Move to a New (and Hopefully More Permanent) Home. Here’s wishing for roots. Be it back in the Philippines or someplace else, I’d really appreciate some stability if only for my school-age daughter. We’ve already planted the seeds (so to speak) so I know things will bear fruit in 09.

4. Turn Ninna into a Big Sister. You read that right. I’ve been wanting to do this since 2007 but everything had been hinged on #3 and I guess it wasn’t yet meant to be. So, if #3 pans out, so will my tummy. Promise!

5. Make Some Moolah. I have been looking into some small business opportunities but just never had the guts and the timing to push it through. This year, economy willing, I may just finally go for it.

6. Vacation in the Philippines. Two years without coming home to visit is just too much! I have to have my food, my shopping, my luxe spa, my beach, and my mountains. But most of all, I have to have my family!

7. See A Doctor. To get a full physical check-up. I have not been able to do this last year. And the other year, too. (yikes!) I really, really have to do this so I can better prepare for my #4.

8. Visit My Sis in Seattle. Hopefully in the summer. I know she’ll set me up with free accommodations at a certain 5-star hotel for my stay. *ehem ehem*

9. Take Up A Sport. Not competitive eating, I hope. Hehe!

10. Make A Conscious Effort To Be More Positive! I know I succumb to the usual negativity, 2008 being an especially difficult one in all fairness. But the new year has already started promisingly for us so I just need to keep this happy vibe going.

How about you? What are you looking forward to doing in 2009?

WS28: Book Mountain

My holiday weekend in Florida was unbelievably extreme – on the one hand, we “theme-parked” to the maximum until our knees and the balls of our feet gave way, and on the other, there were also days spent lazily lazing at the hotel.

I knew that I would have time to catch up on some reading so I lugged with me to Orlando a few books that I wanted to finish up (particularly the ones which I borrowed from the library, hehe!).

And finished them, I did!

Bookworm, much?

It helped that two of the books were of the Romance genre, because it’s been a while since I last read a Johanna Lindsey book and I thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyed the kilig moments. I finished the two books in two days, haha! Rowling’s Tales of Beetle The Bard was a book I planned to read to and with my Ninna, but after scanning the first few pages, I decided to wait until she was much older. As usual, reading Annie Dillard is always another lush experience. And again, I will be returning Stephenie Meyer’s The Host back to the library without finishing it (unlike the Twilight series, I don’t know why but I couldn’t get through this book!). Reading about term life insurance rates are easy compared to it, haha! Oopps! The only book I did not get to touch was Alice Sebold’s Lucky. I’ll save that for another lazy day. :)

So that was part and parcel of my weekend. How eventful was yours? :)
