ShopWiki.Com

I just recently learned about ShopWiki and I am so excited about it. ShopWiki is a community-based shopping resource, which generates all of the possible websites where you can buy what you want online – and not just the sellers that have paid for placement. You can refine your search by price range, brand, and sites, and you can also create wikis for any product, find alternatives for what you want to buy, view and share product overviews and price checks, as well as tell you where to shop.

For instance, you have long been interested in purchasing a Nintendo Wii Console but do not know much about the product nor the accessories that go with it. By searching for Nintendo Wii, you will be directed to a wiki page that contains everything you need to know to make an informed purchase. What’s more, by clicking on the links within the wiki page to, for instance, the Wii Remote or the Wii Nunchuck, or even the Wii Sports game, you will then be easily directed to the wikis of each item. You can even click on the link for the Video Gaming Guide so that you can see for yourself how the Wii compares to other gaming consoles like PS3 or Xbox.

Truly, its a pretty revolutionary site that changes the way we do online shopping.

LP28: Luma Na (Something Old)

Litratong Pinoy

(Pictured above is the USS Yorktown, an old aircraft carrier used by the Americans during WWII. It now serves as a museum and is permanently docked at Patriot’s Point, South Carolina.)

Buti pa nga itong barkong ito nakarating na ng Pilipinas samantalang ako, matagal-tagal nang hindi.

(Come to think of it, this huge boat is luckier than I am – it has actually been to the Philippines quite a few times, while I haven’t been home in a while.)

Lumahok ito sa Battle of the Philippine Sea noong Hunyo 1944, sumuporta sa Invasion of Leyte noong Nobyembre 1944, at sumali sa mga air strikes sa Lingayen noong sumunod na Disyembre.

(This aircraft carrier participated in the Battle of the Philippine Sea in June 1944, the Invasion of Leyte in November 1944, and during the air strikes in Lingayen in December 1944.)

(Its a good thing that the Americans took home this baby and didn’t think to donate it to the Philippines. Otherwise, the Philippine Navy may still be using it until now. :D)

Isang luma ngunit warm na Hello, DITO sa aking isa pang LP entry.

Discount AC Parts

Summer is the worst time for your car’s air conditioning to break down, especially if you are in the deep South as I am, where the term “fried” doesn’t just apply to dressed chicken. It’s a good thing though that you can always find great deals on auto air conditioning parts, specifically AC Compressors, at DiscountACParts.Com. Install the same high quality parts that dealers use at more affordable prices. So whether its a BMW or Mercedes AC compressor or even a Volkswagen ac compressor that you need, they have a great selection of new and re-manufactured products available and ready to ship for free.

Now that’s cool.

Tagged [MARCH Starch]

Uh, how uncreative. (You’ll see why in a minute)

I got this birthday tag from Linnor. I haven’t done this tag yet sis so, here goes!

Incidentally, October is my mom’s birthday month so I am dedicating this meme to her (naks!).

Instructions:

1.Determine your birthday month and get a word that rhymes with it or you can affix to it. Caps lock your birth month (ex: MAYday! JUNE dune, APRILicious, JULYvely, AUGUST pocus, parched MARCH…). Be unique.

2.Your birth month plus the word affixed or rhymed shall become the tag’s title in your case.

3.Get your birthday and add the digits involved. Example, if your birthday falls on the 25th of July, add 2 and 5 you get 7.

4.Whatever is the sum, write a list of the MATERIAL gifts you wish to receive, the number of which shall correspond to the sum of your birthday. For example, applying the case above (in rule number 3), you will write seven (7) things you wish to receive.

5. After your wish list, put your name and birthday in the Bloggers’ Birthday Directory, with a link to your blog/s. Note: when you add your birthday, please place it in a way that the dates appear chronological (January, February… 1, 2, 3)

6. Pass this tag meme by tagging as many people as you want.

MY ANSWER:

Name: Meeya
Birthday: March 3
Calculation: 3 + 3 = 6
6 Items On My Wishlist:

1. A plane ticket to the Philippines.
2. Three months vacation in the Philippines.
3. A barrage of shipping boxes-slash-birthday presents from Eluxury.com, haha!
4. Canon 50D. or 40D. or 30D. or 450D. or 400D… Just give me my own DSLR! :)
5. Something from Cartier, Charriol, Bulgari, Harry Winston, or Tiffany’s. And why not? :)
6. A winning lotto ticket, hehe!

This was fun!

The Bloggers’ Birthday Directory can be found after the jump.

I am passing on this tag to all October birthday celebrants. :) Happy birthday!

Dragon Naturally Speaking

I am so really bad at typing! Take a look at my very dismal performance when I took the Dragon’s typing speed test!

Yikes! My typing skills never did really improve since I got a grade of 79 in my high school Typing class. However, I never really saw the need to be able to type more quickly or accurately, not until I started working as an executive assistant and realized how much time (usually, hours!) I spent poring over the dictations of my boss or transcribing the recordings of various meetings in order to come up with a decent memo or report. More often than not, and to the constant ire of my boss, my transcriptions are not as accurate as it should be.

Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 Preferred

If only I’d have heard of the Dragon Naturally Speaking software back then, everything would have been so much easier! You can actually create documents and emails three times faster and with 99% accuracy with this speech recognition software. What’s more, with this program, you can even control your PC just by talking to it! It works with most Windows programs like Microsoft Word, Microsoft Internet Explorer, and even AOL so, for PC users like me, that’s pretty excellent! Mac users? Not to worry, they also have the MacSpeech Dictate, their premier speech recognition solution for the Macintosh.

For more info, read the Dragon Reviews of what satisfied users have to say about the product.

10 Great/Awful Things About Television Today

I know a lot of people who can live without TV. Well, I am not one of them, haha! I love watching TV, there’s something about the magic box that piques, sparks, lures – and I succumb, terribly.

I’ll start with the Awful part so we could end on a more positive note:

1. Those news programs could be so negative! And, not to mention, thrive in scaring the crap out of you. No wonder a lot of people turn into phobes or, worse, psychotics!

2. Those trashy talk shows that prey on the weak, dark, dysfunctional, and shameful side of people.

3. It seems that everyone can now have a reality show. Much better, I guess, if you apparently have huge boobies.

4. Some shows for kids aren’t really kid-friendly. Once I heard Spongebob tell Patrick he’s “stupid”, off went the TV.

5. TV commercials are more sexually and violently suggestive/blatant nowadays.

And now for the Great part:

6. Admittedly, there are some excellent reality shows that inspire, encourage, educate, and motivate other people (in similar circumstances) to make their lives better. They should have more of those.

7. Two letters: HD. I love seeing Kim Kardashian’s cellulites. I feel so much better about myself afterwards.

8. I love the new TV shows for preschool kids – particularly those from Noggin, Nick Jr, PBS Kids, and Playhouse Disney. Animators today have made sure that their kiddie shows are truly suited for little viewers. And I get a lot of housework done in the process, too. :)

9. Despite #5, there are some totally funny, creative, and informative TV commercials being shown, too. Superbowl commercials rock! :)

10. Digital Cable TV, which brings me to Tivo, DVR, Slingbox, PPV, IPTV (especially if you have a good mobile router) and On Demand. I hate it when my fave shows run simultaneously or play when I’m not there. Now, I control the TV, it doesn’t control me. To a certain degree, hehe.

All in all, I am just really glad that the TV was ever invented. :)

What ten things do you think are good and bad about TV today?

WS24: Climb Every Mountain

We were supposed to attend a birthday-slash-wii gaming party last Saturday. However, the birthday celebrant (together with his dad and his two brothers!) all came down with the flu. Since the cancellation was given such a short notice, and since my family and the rest of our friends were still in the mood for a get together, we decided to take our party to Stone Mountain Park.

Our mission: to go up Stone Mountain via the Skyride.

The Skyride is actually a cable car going up the mountain.

If one is so inclined, visitors could also take the long route and do the hike.

But with nine goofy kids in tow… nah.

Going Up! Boy am I glad that I paid attention to my agent’s life insurance quotes. Heehee!

Stone Mountain is well-known not only for its geology, but also for the enormous bas-relief on its north face, which is the largest bas-relief in the world.

The three historical figures are depicted in the carving: Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, and Jefferson Davis – heroes of the Confederate States of America.

Finally, my little mountain climber at the top!

My daughter was only six months old when we first climbed up the top of this mountain. Look…

Circa 2004. How time has flown!

We stayed up top until closing time and rode the last cable car trip down, which was at 7:30pm. One of the highlights of being there was being able to witness the red golden sun set over Atlanta.

I wish I had brought a better lens, I’m afraid this snapshot did not do it justice.

It was a fun, fun day, and we were really glad that the weather was at its best behavior. Now let’s all channel Julie Andrews and start breaking out into song…

“Climb ev’ry mountain
Ford ev’ry stream
Follow ev’ry rainbow
‘Till you find your dream”

~~~
Thanks for viewing our top of the world weekend at Stone Mountain Park, Atlanta, GA.
Custom Suits
How convenient would it be to make an appointment with a consultant in order to get measured or re-measured for a custom suit, right in the comfort of your own home? How simple is it to have your measurements and choice of style or fabric always ready at a location that’s easily accessible to you? It can actually be pretty convenient and simple, as well as less expensive with MySuitNY.Com!
Storefront_logo
MySuitNY.Com is a global company with over 40 years of manufacturing and retail experience. They sell made-to-measure women’s and mens’ suits at close to off-the-rack prices so you’ll never have to pay thousands of dollars again for your made to measure suit. They have a wide range of styles and fabrics to choose from, and your suit will be ready and waiting for pick-up in just two weeks.
Personally, I would love a pantsuit with a three-button jacket that absolutely fits my weird body type. I could never find a pantsuit that fit me, ever, the way that I want (or hope) to. With MySuit, I know that they will be able to create a suit for me that’s comfortable, inexpensive, and would definitely conform naturally to my unique shape.
Make that appointment now. It’s absolutely free and won’t even take you fifteen minutes to do. :)
LP27: Aking Computer
Litratong Pinoy
Ang aking kyut na taga-kompyut. The apple of my eye. :D
Sana, pagdating ng panahon, yung puro magagandang bagay na naituro at naipamana ko sa kanya ang kanyang kuwentahin at hindi ang mga pagkakamali ko bilang isang ina ang manatili sa hard drive ng kanyang puso.
Hindi mansanas, hindi si miss atay-atayan, hindi si harry potter, kundi si aling sonya, DITO sa aking isa pang LP entry.
