10 Favorite Horror Movies

Scared you? :D It’s almost that time of the year and I can’t help but love the theme for this week’s 10 on Tuesdays. How horrifyingly apt. :)
Anyway, I don’t normally watch horror movies (too much of a scaredy cat, I am) but, unfortunately, when you’re surrounded by horror movie freaks, there’s no escape, there’s nowhere to run, and they would know ultimately know what I did last summer.
So here’s my list.
1. The Ring. Here’s the thing, I bought tickets to see “The Lord of the Rings” but was issued tickets for “The Ring” instead. Imagine my horror when, instead of Orlando Bloom, I got Sadako.
2. Sixth Sense. Its not the gory type horror movie, but I had nightmares for weeks after watching this. I look at orbs differently now.
3. I Know What You Did Last Summer. Jennifer Love Hewitt was annoying. Que horror! But the movie was quintessentially scream-worthy.
4. Scream. Great segue, huh? Haha! Wes Craven did a great job of reinventing the slasher genre started by (equally scream-worthy) “Halloween” for our generation. Its a lot of fun, especially if you’re watching with a group of equally-scaredy cats.
5. Jaws. This can be classified as a horror movie, right? I saw this when I was a kid and it got me avoiding beaches altogether.
6. Amityville Horror. I think this was the movie that made me not want to watch Horror movies afterwards. It also did not help that my parents recently bought a property in a village called Amityville. Needless to say, I’d rather be homeless.
7. The Exorcist. Its a classic, what can I say. I actually got to watch the movie again and it didn’t seem as scary as it was back then. Ok, a little bit less scary. Its probably because I was able to see through the jurassic special effects. But anyway, still a classic.
8. Spoorloos or The Vanishing. I saw the Dutch version first and then (masochistically) watched The Vanishing (I liked the Dutch version better). Vanishing the way Saskia did, it would be my worst worst worst nightmare, ever.
9. The Blair Witch Project. To tell you the truth, I don’t remember how this movie ended, my eyes were closed the whole time, haha!
10. The Shining. I can bet you my Samsonite luggage that Jack Nicholson was made for this role. Not a lot of gore but a whole lot of nail-biting instead.
This list got me looking over my shoulder…

House the movie, guys, will be rolling in theaters this coming November 7. Check it out, the movie is based from the book (same title) by Ted Dekker and Frank Peretti, both great authors in the horror genre. There’s a list of cities where it’ll be shown.
