WS24: Climb Every Mountain
We were supposed to attend a birthday-slash-wii gaming party last Saturday. However, the birthday celebrant (together with his dad and his two brothers!) all came down with the flu. Since the cancellation was given such a short notice, and since my family and the rest of our friends were still in the mood for a get together, we decided to take our party to Stone Mountain Park.

Our mission: to go up Stone Mountain via the Skyride.

The Skyride is actually a cable car going up the mountain.
If one is so inclined, visitors could also take the long route and do the hike.

But with nine goofy kids in tow… nah.

Going Up! Boy am I glad that I paid attention to my agent’s life insurance quotes. Heehee!
Stone Mountain is well-known not only for its geology, but also for the enormous bas-relief on its north face, which is the largest bas-relief in the world.

The three historical figures are depicted in the carving: Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, and Jefferson Davis - heroes of the Confederate States of America.

Finally, my little mountain climber at the top!
My daughter was only six months old when we first climbed up the top of this mountain. Look…

Circa 2004. How time has flown!
We stayed up top until closing time and rode the last cable car trip down, which was at 7:30pm. One of the highlights of being there was being able to witness the red golden sun set over Atlanta.

I wish I had brought a better lens, I’m afraid this snapshot did not do it justice.
It was a fun, fun day, and we were really glad that the weather was at its best behavior. Now let’s all channel Julie Andrews and start breaking out into song…
“Climb ev’ry mountain
Ford ev’ry stream
Follow ev’ry rainbow
‘Till you find your dream”
~~~
Thanks for viewing our top of the world weekend at Stone Mountain Park, Atlanta, GA.
Ako ang naisip kung song iba, yung “She’ll be coming round the mountains..” Parang ang layo, di naka-relate, hehehe…
it’s fun to watch other people do it but i don’t know if i want to try.
where’s this stone mountain located - country? nice sunset
nice weekend at a cool place huh? ;)
i visited that park eons ago when i was still single. meron pa bang laser show? very emotional. parang feel ko na rin ang pagiging patriotic ng mga kano. :-)
