Tagged [Me and My Child]

Vannie, Che, and Dyes tagged me to showcase an image of me and my child.

This photo is one of my favorites and was taken by my bestfriend, Ninna’s Ninang Angela – fotorista extraordinaire. I never knew about the existence of this photo until Angela published it for Mother’s Day.

Needless to say, sobrang touched ako.

Whenever I look at this picture, I ask myself: would my arms be the only place in the world that Ninna will ever look to for comfort? I hope so.

Although I may not always have the right words to chase away her fears, I know that these flabby arms of mine are ever excellent for hugging.

I’d like to pass this on to: Weng, Em, Sheng, and Abby.

I missed receiving tags from Vannie, so I’m glad she sent this cute little one my way. Thanks, girl! :)

Memes are a great way to link everyone together. In Cyberspace, many people use English as the Universal Language and say Hi, Hello and more. Have you tried learning other languages of the same meaning?

Let’s get to know each other by placing a welcome/hello greeting in your language and spread it over all bloggers in cyberspace.

1. Copy the text from Start Copy Here

2. Post it in your blog. Make sure you copy it in compose mode (blogger) or visual mode for the others. This will enable you to copy all your friend’s link as well. Have fun doing it.

3. In the next number, add your blog url and link it

4. Add the greetings that you use frequently or one that is in your traditional language.

I am giving a shout out to all my plurk pals: Em, Mel, Maver, Cez, Weng, Jen, Dyes, and Nell! I wish I could give all of you a table lamp for all those late night plurking. But since I can’t right now, this tag is for you instead! :) *muah*

Exercise

The next Nastia Luiken. Or close enough. :)

More than a bodily exercise, I think, me, hoping that my daughter would one day turn out to be a be-medalled olympic gymnast is actually more of an exercise of dreaming. :)

Something Purple Turns 4!

Em, one of my very good amigas is celebrating four blissful years in the blogging world. Congrats Em!!!

From one little LJ blog, her online presence eventually blossomed into a total of seven (going on eight!) very prolific and (ehem) very lucrative blogs! :) I’m really really happy to see how our “raketeering” greatly motivated Em to take blogging more seriously and, in effect, brought the writer out in her.

I am just so amazed with this woman! I mean, I can’t imagine how any sane person could churn out article after article after article on an almost daily basis, haha! Anyway, Em has always been a little crazy quirky and I really love her for it! :)

So anyway, for her blog anniversary, she’s put up a cute little contest for all of her friends in the blogosphere. All her “contestants” have to do is to answer a simple question on their own blogs and then to link the entry back to her so that she could raffle off the prizes.

There’s a humongous amount of moolah involved but, honestly, even just a cup of Starbucks coffee would do it for me. :) But if you guys want to join the contest, go ahead! The question is pretty simple really (and very ingenious, if I should say so myself, nyahaha!) and I’m sure you’ll enjoy racking your brains as much as I did.

Em asks:

When you first came to visit any of my blogs, which from among my numerous entries do you remember landing on? Doesn’t really matter which of my 6 blogs you landed.

First, I would have to say that I’m honored to be one of the first visitors of her one and only blog in 2004. Yes, our friendship does go back a long long way, and yes she only had one blog back then, hehe.

Not a lot of people know this but, before her current blog evolved to what is now http://em.wifespeaks.com from being http://purpleism.livejournal.com, she actually kicked off her blogging career through http://em_blogs.livejournal.com. We were all new to the blogging world back then but, even as the newbie feeling wore off, we continued to carve our niche into the blogging world.

Em was also one of the pioneers of WifeSpeaks.Com – it was a given that she was going to be a part of it, knowing how thoughtful, generous, and outspoken she is about her thoughts and opinions. I can’t imagine Wifespeaks without Em, she’s always been a wonderfully gregarious contributor.

And now, after that very long-winded intro, to answer her question…

Without looking at her archives, this is what first came to mind:

I remember when I first visited her blog, there was an entry about the book “Hope For The Flowers” and why it was a very sentimental to her and to her husband. That was the first thing I read in her blog. I remember, I even bought a copy of that book because of her. :)

But now, though, when I tried to check her archives to see if it was indeed the first entry I read, I was really surprised (albeit a little panicky) because I couldn’t find the entry, hahaha! And then *toink* I remembered that the Hope For The Flowers story was actually a blurb she had written on the sidebar of her blog at that time! Oops. :D

Now I know that the first entry I actually read in her blog was the one where she posted a sort of poem or wish about wanting to see her little one soon. Unfortunately, I wasn’t a huge commenter yet at that time so, no proof? Haha!

Looking back at her old entries, I’m so glad to see how far my friend has come in the past four years. Blogging is not for everybody but, whether she agrees or not, I think Em is born to be a blogger. :) Keep it up sis and I wish you more power, more love, and more opps (of course!) now and always! Luvyah!

LP22: Ayaw Ko

Litratong Pinoy

Sorry kaibigang bwitre, better you than me.

Bonus:

Ayaw ko rin nito…

Medyo self-explanatory para sa mga kagaya kong umaasa sa kabaitan ng kaibigang gugel para sa kabuhayan. Hehe!

~~~
Sana’y hindi na muna maulit muli ITO, sa aking isa pang LP entry.
Tagged [All Mixed Up]
Here’s Cez‘s other tag for me.
1. Are you pregnant?
:: I just look pregnant but, no. :P
2. When do you want to get married?
:: Sa 25th wedding anniversary namin ulit – in 20 years. :)
3. Do you curse a lot?
:: Except for the occasional “oh crap”, no.
4. What are your favorite books?
:: Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter Series!
5. Do wish you were with someone right now?
:: My family in Pinas.
6. Who were the last three people that sent you a text message?
:: Hubby and two girl friends. :)
7. Are you happier single or in a relationship?
:: In a relationship, of course!
8. Do you believe everyone deserves a second chance?
:: Yes. But only a second chance. If they do it for the third time, sorry, can’t – or else I’m either super gullible or they’re just plain super evil.
9. Do you wish someone would call you?
:: Why not? I love having phone conversations with good friends.
10. What is bugging you right now?
:: That maybe my pets back home don’t have enough dog supplies.
11. What’s something you wish you could understand better?
:: How Mr.G determines his ranking thingy. Hihihi.
12. If someone doesn’t like you, its usually because…?
:: I look (or seem) stand-offish to some people. Perhaps it’s because I’m pretty shy when meeting new people so I’m often misjudged as unapproachable.
13. Do you have a wild side?
:: Maybe. Haha!
14. Kissed someone in the last twenty-four hours?
:: Of course, the two people I love most – hubby and my baby girl.
15. Have you lost friends in the past year?
:: I don’t want to think so but maybe I have. It’s been a while since I last touched base with some people.
16. What were you doing at midnight last night?
:: Having the time of my life in lalaland. :)
I am passing this on to Mel, Em, Jeanny, and my amiga, newbie blogger Sheng! :)
Tagged [Spreading The Blog Love To My Friends]
So I have some long-standing tags and memes from Cez. Sorry po for the delay. I have to admit, I have been a little busy with … this and that. :P
Anyway, Cez tagged me three times, as well as sent an award my way (which I have already promptly put in my HonorRoll). I’ll just combine the two easier tags in one entry, and then do a separate entry for the other one (which needs a little more cerebral power on the side).
Here goes the first one. (Btw, Mel also tagged me with this so I’ll be hitting two birds with one stone. Yey!)
(Pls. don’t remove) Credits: Elements/Paper by Dani Mogstad/ Layout by JennyL
Rules:
1. Don’t remove the credits when you post the image.
2. Please link back to the person who tagged you and pass this tag to many of your friends.
3. If you have more than one Blog, please post this to all your Blogs so your other Blogs can be listed to the Master List too.
4. Remember to come back here at A SLICE OF LIFE and leave the exact post URL so I can add you to the Master List to help increase our rankings and improve our Technorati Authority.
5. Spread the BLOG LOVE FEVER!
~~~

And here goes the second one.

We need friends for many reasons,
all throughout the season.
We need friends to comfort us
when we are sad,
and to have fun with us when we are glad.

We need friends to give us good advice,
We need someone we can count on,
and treat us nice.

We need friends to remember us
one we have passed
sharing memories that will always last.

Spread the poem of friendship.

If only it were possible, I’d take all of my blogging friends on a nice, relaxing weekend at the Outer Banks, to show you all how much I appreciate your friendship. Hugs to you!!!

I am passing on these tags to all my TagBuddies. *muah*

WS21: A Cosmic Birthday

One of our good friends, John, celebrated his birthday last Thursday. Succumbing to the pressure of gimmick-starved friends, he invited our whole gang for an exciting and fun bowling “party”.

The birthday boy contemplating his shot.

Now, for the obligatory group shots…

The birthday boy (on left) with his buddies.

First (and only) wives club, hehe!

Future olympic bowlers, hehe.

Not only did the adults have fun, the kids did too!

My little Bong Coo.

Not as easy as Wii Bowling, hehe.

Needs improvement, hehe.

At least I did well, haha! Imagine, without any practice whatsoever…

I got a 165 with seven strikes in one game! Ehem, ehem.

Happy birthday, John! Thanks for the great celeb! May you have many many more birthdays and blessings to come.

~~~
Thanks for viewing our striking weekend at Brunswick Zone, Norcross, GA.
A weekend of long-life eating HERE at my other WS entry.
More weekend snapshots HERE.
Old Fashioned
Taken in, I don’t know, 1977 or 1978 I think. That’s Ninna’s mom in the middle with her cousins. Check out the ride! And the outfits – checkered shorts? Must’ve been pretty hip back then but quite old fashioned now. Or not? :)
Wireless Deals
My husband and I have recently been discussing mobile phones and how he is thinking of replacing my old Treo 650 with either the new IPhone or if we should wait for the Blackberry Bold, which is supposedly coming out in November. Personally, I prefer the IPhone since, aside from its new 3g capability and sleek design, it also seems to be the best touch screen phone right now. However, since the IPhone currently works only with AT&T, I wouldn’t be able to use it if I later decide to switch to Verizon Wireless or any other carrier.
On the other hand, I kind of am taking a liking to the soon-to-come-out Blackberry because it will also have 3g capability with the added reliability known of Blackberry products. However, it all depends on the kind of deals that we can find.  For instance, if I could get a free Sierra Wireless aircard with my purchase, or get $100 cash back plus a bonus headset, well I could be easily persuaded to go either way.
My husband recently switched to T-Mobile for his new job while I am still with AT&T, which makes it all the more important to find a versatile phone that I could easily transition to his carrier, specs-wise, since I know I can easily transfer or switch existing number to T-Mobile.
Would you have any suggestions aside from the two cell phone models I mentioned above?
