The Alzheimer’s Memory Walk
People close to me know that developing Alzheimer’s Disease is my most feared illness. I have tried to live my life as fully as I could and the memories I have made of these are what I one day would like to share with the people I most love. Like my grandmother has. I grew up listening to World War stories, anecdotes about her family and lovely childhood hometown, and the romantic events leading to her marriage to my grandfather.
However, I have seen how this illness has ravaged her fragile mind, and how I would do anything in the world to bring back the doting, cuddly, vivid woman she once was.
Which is why I greatly support The Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk®. It is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research. The organization is now calling on volunteers of all ages to become champions in the fight against Alzheimer’s. The Alzheimer’s Memory Walk will be participated in by people from more than 600 communities, walking 2-3 short miles this coming fall.
Let’s walk with a purpose – and move us closer to a world without Alzheimer’s. Together, we can MOVE a nation.
