Did you miss the Yahoo Time Capsule?
Yahoo launched a Time Capsule Project last year where they invited people all over the world to submit to them photos, videos, writings, poems, blogs and other important memories that they want to treasure and share to the rest of the world. The Time Capsule project is now close and will re open on March 2, 2020 for Yahoo’s 25th Anniversary.
So while waiting for the time capsule project of Yahoo to re-open, let’s make our own time capsule.
Rules:
1. Answer the question below:
If you are to leave an important memory, what would that be?
You can answer the question either by posting a picture, a video, writing a poem or whatever you think would best describe the memory that you want to share.
2. Copy the entire list and add your name below the person who tagged you. Then tag at least 5 friends (But you can tag as many as you like) and visit their blog to let them know you tagged them.
My Answer:
I have always been intrigued with the idea of time capsules. Imagine, many years, decades, or centuries from now, an archaeologist from another era (possibly one so different from ours right now) would accidentally dig up a long-forgotten time capsule and get blown away, hehe.
I am going to make it easy for future anthropologists. As a sociologist, I have always believed that, had our ancestors put down in writing their complete histories and culture, then the past won’t be such a huge question mark for us.
And so, I would leave behind these three books. They not only mean a lot to me, but more so would help future scientists see how cultured, how creative, and how passionate we are as a civilization.

The Holy Bible. The Complete Works of Shakespeare. Noli Me Tangere.
These are the books I would choose to put in the time capsule.
Although some people might think that the Catholic Bible is not wholly representative of our race, the fact that we did practice religion would hopefully show that we were a race of believers, of hopefuls. And the fact that the books of the Bible are so beautifully-written - the psalms, the proverbs, the songs, the fables - it is just so important, from both a literary and historical standpoint, not to pass on.
I love Shakespeare. I’m pretty sure the dramatists of the future would be thrilled to read his dramas and comedies. Besides, there can be only one Shakespeare. Ever. So it’s a matter of pride that I’d like to show off that such genius existed in our era, hehe.
Now my inclusion of Noli Me Tangere is a bit self-serving, if only to let the people of the future know that there is a country called the Philippines, that it underwent a vicious cycle of colonization, that its people valued freedom above all else, and that there exists the potential of humankind to be heroic even if the conviction emanates from a small nation of people on some unassuming group of islands in the far eastern corner of the world.
Oh well, If I could only put the entire Library of Congress in a time capsule, I would. :)
